A leafy, mid-tier drive named for the plain gray songbird whose warble is the soundtrack of the western canopy.
The Plain Singer
Vireo Drive runs along a green, mid-tier fold of the hillside where the canopy thickens and the air cools a degree. The Warbling Vireo is a bird that birders learn by ear before they learn by sight — a drab gray creature whose continuous, rolling warble is one of the common sounds of the western woodland, even as the bird itself stays hidden. The street inherits that character: modest on approach, generous once you are inside. The lots here are shaded and the architecture tends toward warm wood and deep eaves, a gentler register than the glass towers above.
More in the Enclave
- Blue Jay WayThe street that gave the enclave its mythic origin—where George Harrison waited out the fog and wrote a song.
- Marcheeta PlaceA cul-de-sac roosting just above the Bird Streets—named in 1924 alongside its feathery neighbors, and perhaps, the story goes, for someone's parakeet.
- Oriole DriveCubist modernism and old Hollywood pedigree on one of the enclave’s most architectural streets.
- Doheny DriveThe grand western boundary of the Bird Streets—where the hillside luxury of 90069 meets the Sunset Strip below.
