A short, tucked-away close named for one of the great long-distance migrants of the Americas.
The Long-Distance Name
Bobolink Place is a brief, private close — the kind of address that exists mainly for the residents who chose it. Its namesake is a bird of extraordinary journeys: the Bobolink travels some 12,000 miles each year between North American grasslands and South American rice fields, one of the longest migrations of any songbird. There is a wry romance in naming a secluded Hollywood Hills cul-de-sac for a bird that never stops moving, and the street honors it by being a place to arrive. The homes turn their glass inward to courtyards and pools, the city a distant glow below.
